This was a redesign project.
The company had already started re-doing their site in-house when they decided to get an outside perspective on the overall design.
They sent a request for proposal out to the local design community. Their timeline was so tight that we didn’t think we could meet their deliverable deadline, so we passed.
They called, though. And they were so darn nice on the phone. And they offered to push the deadline back if we would do it. And they just wanted comps, not code. So we agreed.
We prepared three samples, and they picked the one you see, which was not that surprising as it was the closest match to what they had. We toned down the color palette a bit, added a nice punch of color with the rotating images at the top of each page, and “grounded” the design with columns and horizontal and vertical rules while still keeping everything open and airy.
They then asked us to create the style sheet as well, so they got their code. They implemented everything in their content management system, and we were all pleased with the result.
