Noteworthy - Final Version
Noteworthy - Their designer customized the
original template show below.
The template they purchased.
drw Design had been maintaining their site (which we didn't design) for a few years when they got hacked. Their hosting company was less than helpful. After restoring the data several times only to see it hacked anew a short time later, we decided to move the site and dump the old ASP code that was running the original site which was created circa 2000.
Noteworthy does a lot of great design work on their products, and they wanted to be in charge of the look of their site. They purchased a ready-made template and then customized the heck out of it.
They sent us a really good layered Photoshop comp, as well as all the code and stylesheets from the original template as well.
Their template was coded for a fixed-width site. Most clients don't know the difference, but we hate fixed-width sites. We like sites that shrink and grow gracefully based on the size of the browser window. So we scrapped all the code, created a brand new stylesheet, and replicated the look with just a few changes based on some content choices.
We then set about making it all work on a PHP/MySQL platform via a content management system because they really wanted to maintain the site in-house.
Usually clients just go into the back end of the content management system and create, edit, or delete their entries, but Noteworthy didn't want to do that. They have hundreds of cards in separate “albums” which they update seasonally. Basically, they told us “we just want to upload our Excel spreadsheets and be done with it.”
So that's what we developed for them. We made them a series of training screencasts that explained how the site was set up, how to set up their spreadsheets, their images, and what to do with it all. We hovered anxiously in the background, monitoring their progress, and were so proud that they got all their content in there with only one phone call and a couple of helpful emails. A fun collaboration all around.
Here is what they wrote:
drw Design did a wonderful job creating an entirely new site for our company that communicates effectively our message and look to clients and prospective clients. Further, drw Design created a flexible framework that allows our staff to add new products, new images and new text to our site. We are very pleased with the look and feel of the new site as well as giving us the control to fine tune our site as we grow. Hooray for drw Design!
